What is RUNU?

RUNU is a reading tracking app for readers who want to understand not only what they read, but how their reading life develops over time.

You keep a personal library, set a reading status for each book, track the page you are on, and record timed reading sessions as you read. RUNU turns that recorded activity into statistics, goals and a Reading Journey — a chronological view of the books you start and finish, the Margins you save, and the milestones you earn.

RUNU is currently in pre-launch. Your reading activity is private by default.

Library · progress

It starts with a book and the page you're on.

Add books by title or author, pick the edition you own, and give each one a status. Update your current page as you go — when the edition has a page count, RUNU works out your percentage.

Enough recorded sessions, and your reading habits show themselves.

RUNU builds statistics from the sessions you actually record — not from guesses about how long a book should take.

Enough recorded sessions, and your reading habits show themselves.

RUNU builds statistics from the sessions you actually record.

A reading session isn't just a timer.

Plenty of apps can count minutes. What matters is what the session leaves behind: a dated record of when you read, for how long, and how far you got.

While you read

Start, pause, resume — the timer follows how you actually read.

When you stop

Record the page you ended on. RUNU keeps the duration and the pages you advanced.

Afterwards

Session history holds every recorded session. Add past sessions by hand, or correct and cancel ones that went wrong.

Reading Journey

See your reading life take shape over time.

Your Reading Journey is a chronological view of your reading life in RUNU: the books you start, the books you finish, the Margins you save, and the milestones you earn along the way.

Reading sessions keep their own history, separate from the Journey.

Note · 12 Nov

Read the first forty pages twice. Worth it — the structure only makes sense once you know who's telling it.

Reflection · finished

I wasn't rooting for her to leave the island. That surprised me.

Margins

Remember more than the title.

Margins are your private notes, reflections and saved quotes. Type a passage worth keeping, write down what a book made you think, or leave a note for the version of you who picks it up again.

Margins are private. Saved Margins also appear in your Reading Journey.

Statistics · goals

Built from what you actually recorded.

RUNU turns your library and session activity into statistics — books finished this year, how your months compare, which genres you return to, and summaries of your recorded sessions.

Questions

What is a reading tracker?
A reading tracker is an app for keeping a record of what you read: the books in your library, the status of each one, how far through you are, and — in RUNU's case — the individual sessions you spend reading.
What can I track with RUNU?
Books and their reading status, your current page and percentage progress, timed reading sessions, goals, statistics, ratings and reviews, private Margins, and your Reading Journey.
Can RUNU track reading time?
Yes. You can run a timed reading session, pause and resume it, and record the page you finished on. RUNU keeps the duration of each recorded session in your session history.
Can I track individual reading sessions?
Yes. Each session is its own dated record. You can also add a past session manually, or correct and cancel a session. On supported iPhones, a running session appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
How is RUNU different from a basic book tracker?
A basic tracker records that you read a book. RUNU also records how you read it — the sessions, the progress over time, the notes you kept — and builds statistics and a Reading Journey from that activity.
What is the Reading Journey?
A chronological view of your reading life in RUNU, built from the books you start, the books you finish, the Margins you save and the milestones you earn. Reading sessions are kept in their own separate history.
Can I import my books from Goodreads?
You can import a Goodreads CSV export, mapping your Goodreads shelves onto RUNU statuses. RUNU does not connect to or sync with your Goodreads account.
Is RUNU available now?
Not yet. RUNU is a personal reading tracker currently in pre-launch. Join the waitlist and you'll hear when it's ready.
